Defpack 4.1, fixes, content, balance
So, after a couple months, far longer than we wanted to take with this patch, 4.1 is here. The focus of this patch is to fix a lot of the issues we had with launch and prepare for future patches (detailed in the roadmap). Patches should be coming out more frequently than this one, but to be honest, Karm and I are tired after working on Defpack for so long. We are incredibly proud of it, and cannot thank all do you enough for your feedback. With that said, here are the changes, with new weapons unlisted for the sake of avoiding spoilers.
NOTE: Delete your old defpack 4 folder before installing this one, do NOT overlap the folders
Notable things:
*Prismatic iris now affects heavy and mega bullet weapons, as well as shotguns (like the bouncer shotgun)
*Some new weapons, spanning early to end game
*Charge weapons have charge indicators (defperms toggleable)
*The Hold icon has been updated for clarity, yes, that icon
*Weapon drop areas overhauled, drops should make more sense and give a better sense of progress
*Custom weapon chests have a chance to appear, containing weapons from a particular set
Changes (Balance):
+Moby deals 3 damage, from 2
+Abris Launcher creates 8 explosions, from 6, deals more impact damage
+Super Abris Launcher impact damage up
+Vector damage up
+Prism cost to 5 bullets, from 7
+Lightning Wheel damage up
*Prismatic Iris is a weapon specific mutation
-Split Shells have limited pierces, slow down slightly faster, and are more expensive
-SAK actually calculates the rad cost of ultra weapons
-SAK hyper mod has a price increase, auto mod has various downsides
+SAK auto mod is more accurate to the auto shotgun (faster)
*Heavy Nuke Launcher is no longer a hold weapon
*Buster is now a hold weapon (release to detonate), and is fired with more speed and accuracy
+Big Iron shots pierce some targets
+Both Fire Miniguns are faster
+Quartz weapons do not cost ammo (they still give typed ammo)
+Screecher costs 1, from 2
*Crystal Torch has an area of effect on the ground
?Bouncer Disc range is no longer based on their speed (reduced typical range)
+Chris Knife buffed
+Plasmite Cannon electron range increased
+Supersonic Launcher explosions last longer
*Pest Bullet speed increased
+Wide Slugger no longer loses speed, and is faster overall
+Beamer cost to 8 ammo, from 10
-Andromeda Launcher costs rads
-Nail Gun reload time increased from 3 to 4
*Bows use the player's reload speed for charging
+Explosive Bow charge time reduced
-Buster cost to 3
+Delay between Marker bolts hitting and starting the strike decreased
+Airstrike is just better
*Sonic grenade launchers land closer to the cursor
+Supersonic Launcher deals impact damage
+Bullak Cannons cost 6, from 10
+Bullet Cannons shoot faster
+Tempo Gun reload to 6, from 7
+Vector Rifle reload time to 23, from 28
*Plasmite Rifle projectile speed increased
-Flechette Shotgun reload time to 26, from 20
+Kemosabe crit chance increased, bullets use recycle gland
+Prism projectile speed increased
-Vector cannon ammo usage increased
Changes (Polish):
*Defpermissions has scrolling text for longer permission names
*Falling bolts from the Marker have a landing animation, and can land outside the level
*Snipers have laser sights that show their path (due to performance, the psy one is optional)
*Abris Circles have scrolling lines
*Super Abris Launcher isn't as pixel-y
*Weapons have a particle effect and sound when fully charged
*Sprites of some elemental bullets updated
*Multiple weapons have sound_play_gun effects
*Multiple weapons have different HUD sprites for clarity
*Big Iron bullet trails and effects updated
*Andromeda Launcher no longer leaves Cuz on the floor
*Sonic Explosions make a cool particle
*Smarter Guns have their own movement and stay out of walls
*SAK shows weapon stats as they are assembled
*Kemosabe has an additional reload effect
*Bow shows three arrows when fully charged
Changes (Technical):
*Prismatic Iris can force bullets into their elemental versions for mod compatibility (defperms toggleable)
*Goodmod compatibility
*Fixed snipers breaking the Throne, and optimized them
*General optimizations
*Code cleaning and centralizing
*Timescale uses accurate math
*Abris Circles have multiple targeting modes, for non-player users
*Fixed Custom Discs keeping team when hit with melee
*Fixed Custom Discs homing in on coop teammates
*Fixed Heavy Nuke Launcher detonating instantly on walls
*Smarter Guns now search more for targets
*Fixed Donut Box not healing with Second Stomach, when missing 1 health
*Bolt-like projectiles are more consistent with Bolt Marrow range
*Andromeda Launcher should soft lock less
*Fixed Crown of Exchange exchanging tank weapons
*Fixed Bows refunding ammo and still shooting
*SAK stats, barring rads, have a minimum of 1
*Andromeda Launcher has more accurate collision with walls
*Fixed Abris Circles being placed improperly if detonated while touching a wall
*Flak Shotgun and the Phlogenitator no longer share reload animations when playing as steroids
*Wondersword works like other charge weapons
*Fixed Rocklet Cannon incorrectly distributing explosions on detonation
*Various masks are precise now, as opposed to bbox based
*Fixed prismatic bullets giving incorrect ammo counts with recycle gland
